As a DJ, I specialize in a wide range of rare soul tracks from from the 1960’s: from girl groups, to R&B, to Northern Soul, and feel-good classic soul — all on original 45RPM vinyl.
But I also DJ a wide range of dance music: new wave, indie rock, post punk, glam rock, funk, 80 & 90’s pop, hip hop, and current top 40 (depending on what the dance floor wants to hear).
I play records regularly at dance parties* across the Bay Area, and private events (weddings, company parties, fundraisers, secret society speakeasies). I supply all of my own sound equipment, with capacity for vinyl and digital music play.
Outside of live DJ performances, I’ve also hosted my own music program on KALX 90.7FM (Berkeley, California), and produced NPR's first 24-hour stream of Northern Soul music. You can also listen to a Northern Soul radio special I produced, featuring interviews with Bay Area DJs, and a short audio documentary I made about the SF-based dance party 1964!.
*The short list: Hard French (SF); Club Underground (LA); American Tripps (SF); Oldies Night (SF); 1964! (SF); Jonathan Toubin's Soul Clap & Dance-Off (SF); and Sugar Town (PDX).
